Bring Your Own Cloud Prerequisites

Using a Hosted Sandbox?

You don't need any of this. With a Hosted Sandbox, you just need a Codiac account — no cloud provider, no CLI, no installation. Start with a Sandbox and you'll be running in 2 minutes.

The requirements below are only for teams bringing their own cloud infrastructure. Codiac runs entirely in the browser — there's nothing to install to use the platform.

Cloud Provider Account

You need an account with one of these cloud providers:

  • AWS — EKS cluster support
  • Azure — AKS cluster support

Alternatively, you can connect an existing Kubernetes cluster (any provider) using codiac cluster capture.

Container Registry (Optional)

To deploy your own applications, you'll need access to a container registry where your images are stored:

  • Docker Hub
  • AWS ECR
  • Azure Container Registry
  • Any OCI-compliant registry

CLI Prerequisites (Optional)

The Codiac CLI is optional — you can do most things from the web UI. If you want CLI access:

  • Node.js version 20.13.1 or later
  • Codiac CLI — install with npm i -g @codiac.io/codiac-cli

DNS Prerequisites

You need a domain name with the following characteristics to configure DNS for an asset:

  • Unassigned (not being used elsewhere).
  • It is registered with a domain registrar.
  • Has one or more active name server(s).
  • You have access to update the DNS records.
  • You can set wildcard DNS (*).
